That toughness ingredient that we lack is so apparent in all game situations. If someone like Shawn Thornton or Lucic were sitting on the end of the bench I’m sure one of them would have said, “sorry Taylor but you got to take this one”. Hall has fought before not sure why he didn’t just get it over with last night.

Agree and especially after 5 straight cross checks, up and back down 5 times, I would have lost it right there if I were him..Yeah not fight McDermitt[sp] but someone smaller..AND it took FIVE crosschecks before refs finally called a penalty?? I know Av's lost their best player but it was clearly an accident. Still, a night like that where Hall is a marked man?? He HAS to pick up for himself instead of hoping one of his teammates would..Carlo is si damn soft!! Had to fit that in!!! |

Taylor Hall doesn't have a rep as a dirty player and didn't do anything bad on the play McKinnon got hurt and if it weren't for the rule that says once they call a major all they can do is reduce he wouldn't of even gotten a penalty So no he doesn't have to fight anyone.. I'm more pissed nobody on the B's stood up for him. I have never liked the "turn the other cheek" crap that Bruce preaches.. How about they make sure to have a guy in the lineup that's big can skate and can fight.. problem solved.. Miss Quader, Miller etc.. Lewington is kind of in the same mold just not nearly as scary tough as those two guys.

I am on the other side. Why should anyone have to fight for making a check. It is part of the fucking game. You get hit get up and dust yourself off and keep playing. This whole protect your teammate because he had his head down and got hit is bullshit.
Now if someone gets boarded or run from behind then all bets are off.

And Landeskog says that Hall should have fought so he know that he can’t hit MacKinnon like that. Anybody really think if Hall had fought, then had the same opportunity to hit MacKinnon the exact same way that he would have avoided it because someone would want to fight again?? I don’t think so.

Sweeney and Neely will need to go this summer. The odds of us getting out of round one are slim to none, it really should cost them their jobs.

The Hall hit on McKinnon is everything I hate about the NHL right now. Throw a hit and the players whine and cry and think you have to fight. This is so beyond stupid and I do miss the days where even McKinnon when he went back to the bench he would have told to keep his head up or something similar and it would have been said with some choice expletives.
If the act of throwing a body check is going to lead to players having to fight then just ban all body contact.
The game is becoming increasingly unwatchable and the players being a bunch of sissies is just retarded. Perhaps Gary and crew should come up with some mandatory training for players to demonstrate what body contact is and to teach the players that it is a legal part of the game. No player should ever have to fight another because he/she threw a legal it. In fact the league should be immediately stepping in and giving the player challenging the legal hitter a game misconduct and 5 game suspension.

Maybe it started in the 80s with Gretzky and took on a life of its own there. You hit Gretzky and you had Semenko or Mcsorley that would beat you to death. When you hit another teams star you know you have to answer for it. If it’s a bottom six guy hitting another bottom six guy nobody gets too concerned but when stars are involved you get some people’s attention. I’m not arguing with how people feel about it but it’s been going on for more than forty years. |

Man that was real hockey, not this pussy stuff we watch now!! It's gone from a Men's league to a Boys league, that's how I see it. Almost seems like men played back then and boys play now..They certainly looked older..Players were all tough back then and everyone for their self!! Bobby Orr took as many hits as anyone, he never had a Mcsorley to babysit him. Yes the players had each other's back but everyone took a good solid hit, not this crap today. And the damn media runs with this bullshit!! Sorry for running off course a little but they got the great game of hockey made history!! And it's a damn shame!! |

It's not like player's in the 70's 80's and 90's couldn't do theses things with a puck heck I watched Bobby Orr pick up the puck with one hand on his stick! You wouldn't see guys turning there backs so much and not protecting themselves..

Quader and Mills were scary fighters that were also good players.. and No we don't want Charlie doing that he's a younger version of Drew Doughty or essentially this era version of Ray Bourque you don't need him to fight needlessly.. he can stand up for himself that's enough.. |

How many times have you seen the clip where Orr was asked about all the injuries and what might have been. His reply was that he carried the puck so much and that other teams keyed on him and he was fair game. MacKinnon’s another guy who has the puck on his stick the whole game and can make you look foolish as well. Seen Taylor Hall take an awful lot of big hits this year. Taylor Hall is also an elite player in the league.The lack of response by the role players in the lineup is more the story here. The powers that be don’t seem to think that’s an important element when they draft, sign or trade for players.
