Nice season opener, had to keep it interesting. Ullmark made the saves when he had to, that's all I ask of a goalie,

Ok, who scores the first goal of the season. I will say Zacha. Well I’m taking Bergeron from the bumper on the PP. Haha you and I picked Bergy to get 1st goal, imagine we agreeing on something..I picked Bergy but you picked correct play and player, nicely done.. Icetime for Dmen: 1. Forbort--23.36 2. Clifton--22.07 3. Lindholm- 21.33 4. Carlo---18.50 5. Zboril---15.16 6. Reilly---14.37 Bergeron was 15-7 in faceoff circle, Coyle was 8-1, Krejci 4-6, Nosek 7-7. I liked Greer's game and even more Lauko, he was really noticeable out there..Bruins played a really good road game, all 4 lines played good with the All Czech Line playing sensational..Nosek lead all forwards with over 4 minutes PK while Clifton and Forbort played almost 5 minutes shorthanded each.. Remember 2 points are just as important in October as it is in March especially with all the injuries to key players..Home opener against Arizona on Sarurday..Wouldn't a be great to begin season 2-0..GO BRUINS!!

WASHINGTON — The Bruins don’t yet fully grasp the nuances of Jim Montgomery’s system. That doesn’t matter, the new coach said, because he believes they’ll get it. At this point, effort and emotion are more important than execution. Also, any team can suffer a few defensive lapses when David Krejci and David Pastrnak are creating magic at the other end. The reunited Czech mates were on fire in a 5-2, season-opening win over the Capitals on Wednesday night. With the Bruins clinging to a 3-2 lead late in the third period, Pastrnak (1-3–4) and Krejci (1-2–3) combined with linemate Pavel Zacha to put away the Capitals. The three went tape-to-tape out of the zone, Pastrnak tapped a rebound off Darcy Kuemper’s pads, and Krejci chipped it upstairs.
“It feels great, but more importantly we do this together,” said Montgomery, who was handed the game puck by Patrice Bergeron. “And it’s an honor to lead that group.”
Later in the first, Pastrnak worked over two Capitals in the corner and got between the circles. His turnaround wrister from the high slot surprised Kuemper, who let it slip under his pads at 15:03.
In the second period, Taylor Hall made it 3-0 off a ridiculous pass from Pastrnak. No. 88 took a feed from a streaking Mike Reilly, among the defensemen encouraged by Montgomery to jump into the play more often. Pastrnak slipped a cross-ice pass to a trailing Hall, who fired past Kuemper at 6:14.
“You guys obviously see it in practice, but other people just see it in games,” Krejci said of Pastrnak. “I see it every day in practice. He’s just a world-class player. It’s crazy. That guy has no ceilings. He just keeps getting better.”
Netminder Linus Ullmark submitted a quality 33-save effort, stopping all 13 shots he saw in the third period. Montgomery, who will turn to Jeremy Swayman on Saturday against Arizona, called Ullmark’s night “awesome. He battled hard. He fought for every rebound. He was really good for us.”
“Beginning of the year, nothing’s pretty, but what I really liked is how we stuck together,” Montgomery said. “Guys sacrificing their bodies. There was blocked shots. There’s parts of our game that we really liked, but overall the way we stuck together I really liked.”
Conor Sheary got a shin pad on Pastrnak’s wrister, jumped up, and joined Nic Dowd on a three on one. Reilly was sprinting back as Sheary fired underneath Ullmark’s pads at 12:43.
“Pasta has the puck in the slot, because the defenseman goes backdoor, he’s wide open,” Montgomery said. “We’re going to take that every time. It’s a blocked shot, it goes the other way. That’s hockey.”
But the Bruins were able to get it back, thanks to Zacha-Krejci-Pastrnak.
“You talk about risk-reward,” Montgomery said. “That’s a line of risk-reward.”
Lauko wasn’t the only Bruin with nervous energy. Even the veterans felt it.
“It was great,” Krejci said. “Just being around the guys, playing on an NHL rink against the best players in the world ... I was excited and a little nervous at the same time, but I’m glad we got it done.”
