I wished Ferraro called every game I like him a lot, Levy is OK as a play by play, but I like Albert better.

Not more of that from Mac. Lazy penalty leads to a goal.

Not more of that from Mac. Lazy penalty leads to a goal. Ayup...sums up the night for him pretty well. I said it earlier, I am betting this is the start of another lifeless stretch for these guys. When you only have a handful of guys going consistently night after night, it's going to catch up to you. The goalies can only do so much. And on the topic of the goalies, how many games have we seen the team pick them up on an off night? Not many that I can think of...not that they've had many of them and that's why we're at where we're at in the standings.

That really was an exceptional short handed goal by Brad last night, just the way he kept Letang off balance and confused with the stick checks, stick handling and shiftiness.
That was the only thing I liked about the game.

It is time for someone above to question what Monty is doing.
Says he doesn't like the game management, especially the odd man rushes. Well coach, tell your fucking D to stay home once in awhile. Talks about getting kids involved. Then sits em for the 3rd period every game. Should the Bruins make the playoffs they are going to be dead tired because they double shift the top lines all night. If you bring a player like Merk or Lysell (should it happen) you can't play em on the 4th line and expect them to be grinders. Put them with someone that will bring the best out of them. Says he wants a tough team. Then the snowflakes on the back end hit nothing. Everyone can see that Lindholm is having a tough season yet Monty still played him almost 30 minutes last night. Lohrei had a tough go and only skated 9 minutes. Those were not all on him, bad bounces on 2 of the goals. They need more consistency down the line. Coyle plays great fro 2 games then disappears for 4. Same for JVR, Geekie, Zacha, DeBrusk, Freddy. The only consistent ones are Pasta, Marchy and Heinen. Monty needs to reel in Mac. Just play defense for a few nights so he remembers how to do it. They need more from the 4th line but when it changes every game it is tough. Set a lineup and go with it for 5 games in a row.
Rant over.

Agree 1000%! I said it last year he was in the right place at the right time.. he brought upbeat and positive vibes to a team that needed a change from the dour Cassidy. Monty inherited a team that was on its way to another CUP run in 19-20 before Covid wrecked that season and the next. Most of the same players were still there and like Pasta were just getting better.. then suddenly after the trade deadline last yr they morphed into the 85 Oilers in Monty's mind and they abandoned the gritty role players the glue guys like Greer and Foligno and went all in on Bertuzzi and Orlov.. Lindholm who was a legit Norris candidate and carried the D core for the first 50 games of the season has never been the same since.. We don't even have to mention the goalie fiasco.. or the stupid line tinkering after they won both games in Florida

I think part of the problem is that without Bergy to erase a lot of these young players mistakes in the D zone and to provide good mentorship they will struggle and Monty's only recourse is to sit them. Which I'm ok with if the player is making the same poor decisions or there play just isn't up to the standard but like with Lohrei I think there needs to be a real mentor and no offense to Charlie and Hampus but neither is a Chara or Bourque.. you want your young D to make plays and with that comes mistakes. He needs to be able to make those mistakes so he can grow. Unfortunately for him they can't afford it because they already have 5 d who can barely keep their head above water let alone bail him out..
The panthers exposed this groups weakness which is the lack of physicality and yet the only player they brought in to remedy is on an extended leave of absence and they didn't address it on the back end at all.. I think Shattenkirk has done a decent job but he is a slightly larger Gryz without the wheels anymore and better puck management. It was mentioned in another thread about Lauzon and Lindgren who both bring a level of snarl not seen around here since the hey days of Chara, Seids, Boychuk, Ferrence and McQuaid.
Where Sweeney could find such players is anyone's guess lol

We need just one nasty D that can change the mindset of all the other softies back there. Same goes up front, 1 tough guy that arrives at the rink in a foul mood everyday that can drag a handful of our bigger bodies into the fight.
