My biggest take away from last night was our third period. They scored early and I thought we were going to shit our pants again but we weathered it, responded with a goal and then really shut them down for the remainder of the game. Best third in a long time. Agree. I also think another difference maker was a bit more physical play in the first. Hits don't happen in a vacuum and they add fatigue for the other team and create space for our goal scorers (and Freddy). We are definitely missing size on this roster and I think it's critical that we somehow address that. It creates space, it makes the other team hesitate in the corners leading to opportunity and it allows us to capitalize in later periods.

I agree whole heartedly with what you’re saying on the hitting and playing physical and the cumulative effect it has throughout the game but our problem is not that we’re too small, our forwards have to be up there as one of the larger groups in the league but our players don’t play big. Marchand at 5’9” is the only player up front not 6’ or above that plays with an attitude. Lauko plays with an edge but most nights most of the other guys don’t fore check hard and don’t finish checks. Last night was an exception, not that we finished a ton of checks but we definitely closed on their D fast and forced mistakes. I wish we had more angry guys in our lineup but it’s not something you can easily manufacture when you’re a nice guy.

Yes I saw that, just dont know who threw the hits or when?? That's being pretty generous - they must have been counting every little shoulder graze around the boards as a hit last night haha!

Pasta no hits and 3 assists I'll take that every night but I'd like to see all the dmen get in the hit column!

Pasta no hits and 3 assists I'll take that every night but I'd like to see all the dmen get in the hit column! Take away the nightly lazy, or boner play, or bad pass that inevitably leads to a goal against, or extended defensive zone time and I'm with ya!
