Great article, seven years later and I still feel mad and bitter about that hit, I can't even imagine how it feels for him. He's a better person than I for getting through it all and moving on with his life.

Interesting reshuffling there, I was thinking Jesse Puljujarvi could have dropped a few more spots as well but maybe there's still hope for him. Our two pics are now looking like gold that's for sure. High praise on Keller, I got to start watching this guy.

Smooth and seems to always be around the puck.

Not only should we avoid that group but we don't have the money to be throwing around anyway. After we extend Pasta and take care of some house keeping there won't be much more to go around.

Maybe the Jets thought they were drafting Lord Stanley 👀 I like both the Bruins picks wonder how we rate scout wise compared to the Leafs who employ a billion..

I love where he says everyone laughed at Bruins when they picked Frederic with their 29th pick..No one's laughing now and it certainly seems Charlie MacAvoy was a similar case..Charlie Mac might very well be the steal of the draft.. Thanks Seabass, another great article

IF they do decide to trade Spooner, he would be a good trading chip for Gabriel Landescog, captain of the Av's..Sakic and Sweeney had several talks last season but they wanted Carlo and Donny said no, thank you Don..After seeing some of Sweeney's questionable draft picks like picking MacAvoy and Frederic so high, also Senyshen..Those picks certainly looks like steals right now and I have total confidence in Sweeney and hope he's given the leverage to make the deals he wants/needs too..

I'd like to see a contract similar to what Marchand signed. Should be a slight bit cheaper as Marchand had the time to do so much more. Maybe 8 years/45 million Avg being 5.625 million per season. I think both sides could live with that.

Love the guy but after one breakout year and with still plenty of room for improvement dues still need to be paid.

It's a tough call but I'd almost lean towards a bridge deal. Pasta is all flash and dash (right now) and that's skill and athleticism but I don't know about his hockey IQ. If he's a one or two trick pony I'd be worried about a drop off going forward. Other teams will be paying very close attention to him and when the book is out on him then what? Also a guy like Johnny Hockey might be a comparable number on paper but he didn't have the benefit of playing with Marchand/Bergeron for a large part of the year. I'm not saying Pastrnak can't be the guy but I'd go with a bridge deal and see how the next couple of seasons play out. Also I'm having more and more trouble trying to figure out the pay structure, between home town discounts, some GM's actually getting the better of the agents and the cap not really going up it's hard to nail down comparables. Tarasenko is making 7.5 a season, Gaudreau 6.7 and Monahan 6.2 and Foresberg 6 mil. That's a fairly big range of comparables and I think most of us would agree he shouldn't make more than Marchand. If a bridge deal is 4.5m for a couple of years and a long term 8 year deal is 6 million per then maybe a long term deal is the way to go. It's a tough call.

Before the regular season ended, Do anyone else remember Pastrnak saying he wasn't expecting a Tarasenko like contract. I remember thinking at the time it was very strange to hear a player say something like that. I very much doubt it came from his agent. I mentioned in my post above about Maybe 8 years/45 million Avg being 5.625 million per season. That's less than Marchand and I think it comes with little risk because he's only 20 or 21 and this season he was such a different player that earlier. The weight{muscle} he put on really filled him out as a hockey player and I believe it made a difference by making him so tough on opposition trying to slow him down. It just didn't work and he had a super season..He was almost a point a game player and you know there's only a handful of them each year, unlike in the past.. He seems pretty well rehearsed on the subject if nothing else. Would think Donnie a little gun shy after Seids buyout.

The kid has all kinds of talent but he often tries to do it all alone. And seeing him try to make a pass I can see why. I think he will keep getting better but I want to see it happen first. Take the chance he gets really good and ends up with a huge payday.

I really hope he gets resigned and is a fixture on the 4th line. He works hard, can play the rough game and showed some offence in his 1st full season in the league, although he only played 59 games, producing 7 goals 7 assists.
