LW Fraser with 11 goals............ I know buddie.Same situation with Spooner, except for tonight,Bruins are playing good hockey{proven by their record} and there's no spot in the line-up for either.. Fraser played a dozen games with Dallas last season and we also have Johnson in the minors. It's great to have all this depth cause eventually there will be injuries!!

BY MARK DIVVER The 16th weekend of the season started on a very positive note with a solid win over a good Wilkes-Barre/Scranton team on Friday, then crashed and burned in a hideous loss in Springfield on Saturday, followed by another defeat in a rematch with Wilkes at home on Sunday. Here's my take on the good, the bad and the ugly. Good *** Alex Khokhlachev scored a pretty goal on Friday night. He also recorded an assist, seven shots and was plus-three. *** After scoring 11 goals in 71 games as a rookie, Justin Florek already has 10 goals this year. *** Bobby Robins has 5 goals in 34 games this season. He scored 4 in 74 games last season. *** With 4-24-28 in 41 games, Joe Morrow is seventh in scoring among AHL defensemen. *** Zach Trotman, whose plus-13 is the best on the team, was recalled to Boston for the second time this season. *** After languishing at or near the bottom for much of the season, the penalty kill is up to 21st in the AHL. *** Matt Lindblad returned after missing a month with a groin injury. Bad *** The P-Bruins are 1-4 in their last 5 games. *** By the end of the day on Sunday, Providence had slipped to seventh place in the Eastern Conference. *** Rough numbers this weekend: Minus-threes for Matt Fraser on Saturday and Tommy Cross on Sunday. *** Jeff Jakaitis gave up five goals on 32 shots on Sunday in his Providence debut. *** Craig Cunningham's ill-timed boarding penalty in the third period on Saturday in Springfield. The Falcons tied the game on the PP, then tallied the winning goal 30 seconds later. Ugly *** After leading by two at the start of the third period, the P-Bruins gave up four straight goals in Saturday night's 5-3 loss in Springfield. It doesn't get much uglier. *** Providence gave up 19 shots and dug themselves a 0-3 hole in the first period on Sunday.
What an ordeal that turned out to be. Anyway Koko's 5th in scoring on the team a +7 and played 10 less games. Maybe they reward him with a cup of coffee at some point.

BY MARK DIVVER The Providence Bruins came away from the 17th weekend of the season with two of a possible six points. They beat Worcester, but dropped two home games to St. John's, allowing the IceCaps to overtake them in the Eastern Conference standings. Here's my take on the good, the bad and the ugly. Good *** Back from a foot injury, Malcolm Subban was outstanding in the final minutes of Saturday's 3-2 win in Worcester. His goals-against average of 2.29 is now ninth in the league. He is 5-0-0 against the Sharks. *** Nick Johnson scored four points in three games, including two goals in Worcester on Saturday night. His plus-14 leads the P-Bruins. *** Jared Knight was credited with his first goal in 27 games on Friday night. *** With two goals on Friday night, Craig Cunningham now leads the team with 17. *** Ben Youds had back-to-back games with two assists on Friday and Saturday. He's third in scoring among PB's defensemen with 2-15-19 in 29 games. *** Bobby Robins forced a turnover that led to Alex Khokhlavchev's game-winner in Worcester. *** 9,055 fans came out to see the P-Bruins in Worcester. According to Bill Ballou of the Worcester Telegram, nine of the top 10 crowds in Sharks' history and 17 of the top 20 have come with Providence in town. *** Alex Fallstrom is on track to return next weekend after being out since Dec. 29 with a shoulder injury. *** Providence is 6-0-0 against Worcester. Bad *** Two of Providence's shortcomings - they are very young and not very big -- were too much to overcome against St. John's. *** If you take out their 6 wins against the Sharks, the P-Bruins are 16-17 with one overtime loss and five shootout losses against the rest of the league. *** Matt Fraser doesn't have a point since being sent down by Boston six games ago. *** Seth Griffith has one goal and three points in his last 12 games. *** Knight missed the games on Saturday and Sunday with an upper-body injury. *** Joe Morrow was a healthy scratch on Saturday after recording a minus-six in his previous five games. *** Carter Camper, out with a toe injury, is sorely missed, especially on the power play. *** Providence has had only 165 power plays. Only 29th-place Utica (157) has had fewer. Ugly *** The P-Bruins are 2-6 in their last eight and have slipped to ninth place in the Eastern Conference. *** The P-Bruins are fifth in the AHL on the power play, but went 0-for-7 in Sunday's loss. They were 1-for-10 for the weekend. 2 58 +10 0 0 0

Hope they don't package Koko for a rental before he gets a legit shot at the big club.

*** With his goal on Friday night, Ryan Spooner broke a streak of 33 games (22 NHL and 11 AHL) without one. Nice to see Spooner get off the shnide. Hoping Paille is okay after getting his noggin rattled last night, however should there need to be a P-Bruins callup for a while to replace him I can't really see them calling up Koko. As good as he's been down there, he would be a misfit on the Merlot line and I can't see CJ wanting to mess with any of the top 3 lines as they are all jelling quite well.

Who's the most likely candidates to be on the Black Aces this season? Right off the top I'm thinking Spooner, Trotman, Florek and Lindblad maybe. I only said one D because we'll have three extra kicking around when/if McQuaid gets back.
