Thought I would bring this topic back up for 2008.We seemed to have some fun with it last year.Tiger seems to be back on the prowl this year{no surprise}.Waitng patiently for the snow to go and the weather to clear up so I can get back out there and play.Maybe this thread will bring The Gator out of retirement, looking forward to some good laughs again this summer buddy.Got a new wedge and a new putter for xmas and am looking forward to trying them out.Just been reading the new golf digest(march 2008 issue) and they have a article about the 50 best 19th holes in the country and one of them is from the boston area.It says (Granite Links--Quincey Mass--"Picture the hit tv show "cheers"(only Cliff and Norm play golf); devoted Boston sports fans drink next to local sports legends Bill Russel,Luis Ttiant and Ray Bourque, impressive view of the city,be prepared to defend any statement you make about golf, sports or life in general to a complete stranger".This sounds like my kind of bar to go to after a round.

Therer are four courses open around the area.I would love to go for a game someday before our course opens. It has been so windy here everyday and the temps only a couple of degrees above the melting point.Hoping to get a semi warm day soon(at least 10cel) and no wind and I am gone.Any of you guys play yet or are there even courses open yet in your area.?Big week for Davis Love 3,if he doesn,t win this week in Houston then he misses the Masters for the first time in 13 years

I played Granite links 2 years ago. TOUGH COURSE!!! The clubhouse was still under construction though. Looked more like a hotel (friggin huge). Pricey round, it was $100 2 years ago and I heard they went up. I got my moneys worth though, I think I shot around a 295! lol (104)

Gotta love free rounds. My wife has been instructed to get me a gift certificate for a local course for fathers day every year. lol Had to stop going with my boss because he likes to tee off at the crack of dawn. I'm more of a 1:00 pm tee time guy. Plus, the clubhouse doesn't serve booze until 11:00.

Yeah I usually get something golf related for Fathers Day too--usually a shirt and shorts or something like that.I dont need balls bacause my dad lives by the 17th hole and I work there so between the two of us we find alot during the summer,I must have 200 new Pro V,s in the basement. Our club doesn,t serve liquor until 10am so I know what you mean.We usually take an 8pack in under our coat or something and then put it in the golf bag-plus the cart tart always follows us around until we are done, but your right a round without beer is kinda like the Bruins with Tim Thomas--it aint much fun

Game one is in the books and the poor Gator has gone down to defeat once again. The Gator started out strong firing a 38(3 over) on the front beaating the bear by 1 shot but on the back nine the Bear came back with a 38 of his own while the Gator ballooned to a five over par 40 for a 78-The Bear finished with a 77 and also tied the club pro for top spot. .Maybe next time Gator .And to all your supporters on here .

good news! gator laid a dirty whipping on the bear last night, shooting 74 while chesterbear could only manage 78. this evens the series 1-1 early in the season. chad had putting problems and shot 77, so gator was the man on this day. better luck next week bear!

Ogie is playing Red Tail this weekend (formerly Fort Devens)...supposed to be a great course...John Dennis on Boston Sports Radio WEEI is always talking about it...
Last week was the first round of the season shooting 49-42-91...a typical round for me...my scoring sucks...erratic tee shots and can'y make a putt outside of 10 feet...

Well Gator I have to say that you did plAy a good round last week, congrats for that but dont let it go to your head because we both know I will get my revenge in the near future .I only hope you can keep up the good shooting as it will make for an interesting summer and maybe we can win once and awhile in the team game against Chad and Mike since we are also partners on fridays as well

Pretty good score for your first round of the year, keep it up.Its funny like that but it seems that the less you play the better you are,I find that sometimes too and have to take a break for a couple of weeks when I am playing bad,it seems to refresh the brain and give you a different outlook when you start back up.I still think in all fairness though the more you play and practice the better you get in the long run.

Bought new clubs yesterday and I can't wait to get my first round in with them. Got Adams a2's, steel shafts except for the graphite-shafted 3 & 4 hybrid irons. Also bought Taylor-Made R7 driver and 3 wood. All with stiff shafts. I have them out in my truck right now, hopefully I can try them out this afternoon if all goes well.

GATOR WINS AGAIN!!!!!
chesterbear was the shits, and the gator rings up victory #2 of the year and second in a row to take the early lead 2-1. chad shot 73, i was 78, and the bear was a disappointing 80. i will give you kudos for playing a good back nine of 38 including a clutch birdie on the last hole to win us the team match, chesterbear. but you are going to have to up your overall game if you want to hang with the big dogs-lol.

Sounds like you will have lots of fun,I can only dream to play courses like that but maybe someday when I win the lottery .Abuddy of mine was just there two weeks ago and played the same two courses and said they were real nice to play, you should most definitely enjoy yourself. The only thing going on here this week is me giving Gator a trimming on friday afternoon, its soon time to put him back where he belongs, hes getting way to fucking cocky for my liking
