I wonder what kind of a development camp Mast had? Is he a threat to stick around in October, we are hurting on RD. Always nice to have a big body back there.

Here is a write up I found: bostonhockeynow.com/2022/07/16/final-thoughts-from-boston-bruins-development-camp/ Boston Bruins Player Development Coordinator Jamie Langenbrunner singled out BC-bound Oskar Jellvik, second round pick Matthew Poitras, big defenseman Ryan Mast and former first round pick Johnny Beecher as the four standouts from this week. “I think it varied. Some guys we see all the time, so you don’t see the big gains as much as others. A guy like Oskar Jellvik, he popped a little bit. That’s not a guy that we see a lot. His skill level and his creativity [were noticeable]. The second round pick this year, Matthew Poitras, stood out for me with his [hockey] sense and his willingness to play on the inside. Ryan Mast, his body has changed and he’s moving so much smoother now and has confidence with the puck. That was a big move from last season. Those are three guys on the prospect’s side. We’ve seen Johnny Beecher and the way he carries himself around here now is completely different. He’s got a leader mentality and he looks like a pro. There are different levels of what you’re watching and what you’re hoping for from guys.”

To even get a look this season would be a huge jump for a 6th rd pick..

Players have missed development time and scouts weren’t able to get good looks at these players in some cases. I’m hoping for a steal in amongst our picks these past couple of drafts. If he ever plays for the Bruins it’s a win but I definitely don’t think he sticks for a couple of years at best.

Sweeney do seem to have alot more success in rounds after the 1st though so you just never know..Seems our 1st pick this yr seems to be a good prospect at the centre position..Any chance Beecher makes team outta camp I wonder and also Studnicka remains unsigned. I figured he would get every chance to make team this year but no contract for Studs yet!!

Hopefully both those guys can crack the lineup and we can move some overpriced veterans out in a trade.

What's sad is that it wasn't that many years ago, some pundits had us in the top 5 in the league for our system. I understand that when you are a contender for a decade plus, sacrifices need to be made such as trading picks for specific needs going into the playoffs. But I think our main issue has been the piss poor use of the picks that we've had. The fact that in almost every draft he's gone off the board and taken some player that the rest of the league had ranked much lower with a higher pick, is a problem and it's burned the team almost every time. Not sure why he and his staff feel like they're so much smarter than the rest of the league's scouts, but whatever I suppose.

I'm hoping that this may be beneficial when trying to woo free agent college players. If they sign here, they are a lot closer to the NHL than they would be if they signed elsewhere. Glass half full?

I figured Bruins would be near the bottom but not dead last..Also surprised where Ottawa is..Been awhile since they had a strong team, I figured they would have a fine crop of prospects..

He did not make the team. He will be back for another shot at the winter version though.

REALLY looking good out there and getting a few points..Just like Ryan Mast, Duran wasnt selected until the 6th round..Seems to me that Sweeney or the scouting group do alot better in the latter rounds than what they do in earlier rounds, especially 1st round..Pasta and McAvoy being exceptions and likely Fabian Lysell too..Could be a VERY interesting pre-season especially with a new coach who's well known for having success with younger players..Unfortunately there's not many spots open as of right now and even less when the injured return..
