I never thought I would say this but I feel bad for Spooner. As we saw late last year he blossomed when he had a speedy Pastrnak with him. Last night he had Loui on one wing and Jimmy Hayes on the other. I don't mind Loui cause I think he helps Spooner defensively but Hayes doesn't bring much to help Spooners game. I think Hayes would be better with Krejci as he likes to slow the play down and he also carries the puck deeper into the zone. Hayes could be the big body coming late crashing the crease. Maybe Krejci could bounce a few in off his head. Spooner has been ok to get the puck up the ice but he tends to dish it off to the wingers at the blue line. With Patrnak they could attack that way because the speed would back the D off. Hayes is not beating anyone to the outside with his speed so the D can stay up on them. Think a silver lining this year has been Spooner's game. Been more physical, strong on the puck, and more reliable in all zones. It would be more balanced and probably better for Pasta not to have a top line role. Think they keep throwing Hayes and some others out there in hopes of not hurting trade value. Hope a legit top 6 forward lands when the dust settles.
