Bullshit article. Bergie is from Quebec City and not Montreal. He has also said that he did not grow up a Habs Fan. There is so much garbage on the internet that it is hard to believe anything you see on there. People just put shit out for clickbait to attract programatic advertising on their sites. Brutal!! I agree completely with you. It isn't like Montreal is close to winning either and Bergeron doesn't need the money. It makes no sense on every level. His reputation would be forever tarnished as a Bruin. He has way too much class to piss it all away by going to the Habs. I think he's retiring. Agreed, I was just posting that here we go again, these rumours popped up earlier this year and are now doing so again. There will be more shit like this until Bergeron decides what he is going to do.

I hope Sweeney has an ace up his sleeve if this truly is the end for Bergy.

The season Bergy was drafted of course he made team as a drafted 2nd rounder..He stated back then that he grew up a Nordique fan and dispised the Habs..So NO WAY do he sign in Montreal, very last place!!!

If he were to leave to sign with a cup contender, say Colorado for example, I can understand that as most of us on this board are realistic to understand that the Bruins are good enough to make the playoffs but not much more. Sure any team can get lucky in the post season, that is why you play the games but realistically their chances are low.
If he is tired of the Sweeney lead good enough to get to the playoffs but not good enough to win it all show then I can support that. He better be leaving for a true contender though.

Imagine Bergeron winning the Selke and retiring?? Maybe the best ever to retire, he's still a top line player on any team..I'll stick to my previous thought and say he resigns for 2 years..AND he'll maybe take less money if it helps to bring in some much needed help..

Bergeron better win the Selke this year. If he doesn't then there is some real bullshit going on behind the scenes.

.@friedgehnic tells NHL Network the Bruins will meet with Patrice Bergeron's representatives next week. What number do they arrive at on a one year deal? Does Bergeron take a little less to help Sweeney out or is he coming in at around that $6.875 million dollar cap hit?

I have mixed feelings on this. While I am happy to see Bergy coming back, I just fear that this will just delay the inevitable crash of the team in the future. And it really has very little to do with Patrice and more to do with DS and CN trying to wring one last run out of the same group, with the same glaring deficiencies that some of us have called out over the last few seasons. If we had a bit more cap space to bring in some missing pieces, or some internal options for those holes, or blue chippers coming up, I would be less pessimistic, but we don't. I guess we'll have to wait and see what DS does, but if his only move is to fire/scapegoat Cassidy and make no real roster moves, we're screwed. I would have to think the only way to make some of those moves is to dump salary, so where and who would those moves start with? DS already said he wouldn't be buying out Foligno, which is a bit of a mystery, but OK. Who else would, or should be in the buyout conversation? Maybe there is some master plan DS is working and plebs like me just don't see it yet, but man, on the surface, this team looks to be a bit of a mess. And that's not even thinking about how long we'll be without Marchy, Charlie and Grzelcyk to start next season. Dunno....lots of questions without answers right now.

One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Bruins this offseason was whether Patrice Bergeron would retire.
The longtime Boston center inked a one-year deal to play his 19th season with the only organization he’s worn a jersey for. It’s unclear what Bergeron will decide once the 2022-23 season comes to a close. At 36 years old, he’s not getting any younger but Bergeron continues to play at an elite level.
Even though we’re a month into the new season, Bruins fans can’t help but wonder if Bergeron will hang up his skates when it comes to a close. Bergeron appeared on the “32 Thoughts” podcast and was asked by Elliotte Friedman if he “sees the end.”
“Yeah eventually the end is closer than it’s been, right?,” Bergeron said. “I know that I’m not foolish to think there’s a lot ahead, but I try to enjoy the now. I think right now, especially more at this stage in my career, I need to enjoy every moment.”
Bergeron doesn’t know for sure when his career will end, but he does believe he’ll know when it’s time to stop playing hockey.
“I think it’s gonna come to me when it’s the last one,” Bergeron said.
Have any of those thoughts started to creep up in his mind? “No. Once I know I think I’m gonna express that,” Bergeron said. “I think I owe that to everyone involved ? family friends teammates management, but also eventually media as well. But time is not quite there yet.”
We’re sure the future of Bergeron will continue to be a storyline, especially if he continues the level of play he’s showcased through the Bruins’ first 13 games.

Such a great interview, I think all of our prospects could sit down and take a lot from that. One exhibition game from getting sent back to his junior team, such a special player. I remember in Bergeron’s first year comparing him to Jean Ratelle, not in style of play but in the way he carried himself, pure class all the way.
