Bob McKenzie - "Awaiting confirmation on this, but hearing Ehrhoff's deal in Buffalo is 10 years, $40 million. No clue yet on structure within that." That's nuts if that's true. Done and dangerously close to cap circumvention: www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=370500

Steve Montador agreeing to terms with Blackhawks. Word is 11M over 4 yrs. Two points on this.... #1- Congrats to Steve. He was a good teammate and hard worker here and I'm glad to see he cashed in. #2- I'm extremely happy he didn't sign here, especially for that much.

I'm really sure why they haven't just smartened up and done this already to prevent this front load bullshit. It's cheating the system and some teams do it and some teams don't.

It's funny. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the free agent period to open, and it has nothing to do with our team. PC has said that he won't be active, so it's really about watching what the other teams in our division will be doing. Buffalo has already improved and if Toronto can land Richards our division may have a whole different feel. Will one player make the Leafs a contender? No, but it will make the points against them a little tougher to get. I read as article about a week ago referencing our division and how it may be an uphill battle not only to repeat as Stanley Cup Champion, but to win our division. Time will tell.

3 mil. for a 41yr old goaltender, and some of us thought TT was overpaid. yes, but it's only a 1 year deal for a goalie that carried them into the playoffs and if not for an injury would also have a cup ring and conn smythe on his mantle. And it doesn't include a no trade, no movement, you're stuck with my cap for 4-5 years no matter what clause. i dont mind that any longer....no matter what the contract is, TT brought the Cup to Boston and deserves what he got... PC looked dumb, but the Cup makes him a genius...

Andy Strickland - "Can only imagine what Kevin Bieksa was thinking where he saw what Erhoff signed? Should he have waited to sign?"
Ya, I'm sure with the money that's floating around today, he's wishing he would've waited to at least squeeze a couple more bucks out of Vancouver.

With the Blue Jackets getting involved and spending some money, I can't help but wonder if they are trying to make the team a contender, or more attractive to sell?
