With the buyout period beginning tomorrow, all players that teams intend to buyout will be on unconditional waivers as of noon today. They couldn't even let our parade finish before starting the next season. Let the off season begin.

Nashville is taking Weber to arbitration, as is New Jersey with Parise. Both of those guys are so close to UFA status that I don't expect blockbuster contracts.

What's the point of the cap if it continues to go up every year and these small market teams are "capping" their own spending at figures much below the cap. It's an un-level playing field all over again. Who cares!? We won!

The rumored Jeff Carter to Columbus from Philadelphia for eighth overall (and possibly a player) deal is done and that the Flyers will jump ahead of Boston in the draft order, with announcement pending sometime this week Clearing cap for Yotes Goalie Bryzlecjkknoih or how ever you spell his name. Snider said THEY will have a legit #1 goalie after Bruins chased all 3 After Bryz's performance in this year's playoffs I'd seriously be re-thinking that signing. He definitely isn't going to be worth what he wants.

After Bryz's performance in this year's playoffs I'd seriously be re-thinking that signing. He definitely isn't going to be worth what he wants. If he hadn't had a little playoff success with Anaheim, I would be comparing him to Roman Cechmanek. You right though, if his demands are close to what's reported then there's no way he'll be worth it.

Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda this morning tells me it's down to 3 teams: Pittsburgh, Detroit and one other NHL team he doesn't want to name.
Krejci says he really would like to have him on the B's....no thanks.

Krejci wants him because Jagr was his favourite hockey player growing up and likely his hero. That'd be very cool to play with a guy that you held in such high regard. From an outsider's point of view. PASS ON JAGR!

Nick Kypreos - "#NHL tagging rules mean #Flyers would have to move money off cap first before announcing July 1. Heard Bryzgalov was looking for 7 yr/ 50M"
If that's his demands let him go to the KHL to get it. IMO, that's too much for any goalie (and skater for that matter), let alone one that's a bit of a flake.

Things are about to get hectic in the hockey world.
Will the next week live up to the hype and expectations? The offer sheet continues to be the focal point for a number of hockey fans worldwide.
First there’s Steven Stamkos…
You know Montreal is strategizing and formulating ways to keep Stamkos as far away from Toronto as possible. There’s a decent chance Leafs GM Brian Burke is being pressured by ownership to sign Stamkos to an offer sheet.
I did say a few weeks ago that Tampa Bay is sure to match whatever offer is thrown at Stamkos. They won’t allow a 21 year old Hart Trophy candidate walk away over a few million bucks.
Toronto is lacking star power. Luke Schenn is a fine player but he isn’t a star. You can argue Phil Kessel has flopped in Toronto even though he’s had his moments. Toronto Owners wants a superstar.
Would Montreal block Toronto’s attempt to acquire Stamkos by taking Vinny Lecavlier off of Steve Yzerman’s hands? The Lightning would need to take Scott Gomez and probably another player in exchange to make it happen. That’s a trade Tampa would do in a heartbeat.
Montreal knows if Toronto gets Stamkos, the balance of power immediately shifts. Having P.K. Subban and Carey Price is one thing, Stamkos is a whole different ballgame.
Gomez carries a shorter contract and is less expensive than Lecavalier even though their cap numbers are similar. Lecavalier is signed thru 2020 and is set to make $10 million cash for the next five years.
Is it in Stamkos best interest to wait until after July first to sign?
More to come, Andy Strickland
