Wow on the Philly deals....there must be some serious issues in Philly for them to deal both of their key forwards. They did get a nice haul of younger players but I think that both deals are going to haunt them next season. Columbus did very well getting Carter and I think he will play well with Nash. The Kings just got very good in the west now too. Richards will be an excellent addition to that team. The "word on the street" was that Carter was nailing Hartnell's wife and Richards backed Carter. Room was divided into Richards/Carter and Pronger/Hartnell camps, now its not. Ha Ha Ha. I love it. Carter pulls a Hasek!

I think they will miss Richards big time but they still have a very strong team. Giroux, Briere and Schenn down the middle. JVR, Leino, Hartnell, Voracek, Simmons, Hartnell on the wing rounding out the top nine. Still very much a contender IMO. Schenn should be good in a few years but whether or not he's good now remains to be seen. Giroux has talent but one breakout season isn't something I'd be willing to gamble the teams success on. Briere is talented but he is also a big fucking pussy. I think Philly's forwards are going to have the shit beat out of them this year and overall, they've dropped a few pegs. They no longer have a guy who can be a dominant centerman, they got smaller up front, and they signed a goalie with less playoff success than Boucher. Put them firmly down in the pretender category. This is a good point. Schenn WILL be good someday but he doesn't have that same mean streak Richards had. Richards was one of those guys I'd classify in the Iginla/Lucic category. The kind of guy that can break the game open with a hit, goal, assist, fight, whatever it takes. It'll be interesting to say it pans out. Needless to say, I hope it's a complete and utter failure. Fuck the Flyers!

Ilya Bryzgalov had decent numbers past few seasons and might have been the best option, but nine years is a killer. I still say Holmgren is brain damaged from too many O'Reilly lefts.
Losing Richards will sting. Not a lot of players have his skills with that degree of nastiness.
And how much of this soap opera stuff was real and how much was BS?

Fuck the Flyers! Giroux was already their most dynamic player and had his coming out party in the 2010 playoffs. JVR moves up to take Carter's place and based on his playoffs this past year he needed to get bigger minutes. I'm not sure how they got smaller, Simmons and Voracek are both big wingers. Schenn was considered the best player outside the NHL last year so he can handle 3rd line minutes. Sure they took a small step back up front for now but it's impossible for their goaltending to be worse than this past season. I would never have traded Richards unless he is/was a total dick off ice but sadly I think Holmgren did a very good job.

Like the handshake after a tough playoff battle, it's a time honored tradition!

Defenceman Eric Brewer has agreed to a four-year deal with the club that will pay him just under $16 million.

JM Liles from the Colorado WalMarts to the Toronto Marlies via the Maple Leafs. Pundits are already praising his Burkeness for getting Colborne, 30th pick and Liles and all the Bruins got was...... oh yeah, the fucking Stanley Cup!

Ryan Smyth is heading back to Edmonton.
The Los Angeles Kings forward was traded to the Oilers in exchange for forward Gilbert Brule and a fourth-round draft pick.

The Sharks had plenty of forward depth to compete with the Nucks this year but there blue was thin. The question is did they give too much?

Leafs deal the 30th and 39th picks to Anaheim for the 22nd pick. On a side note this is the 100th trade between these two teams in the last 2 calendar years, an NHL record!

Gord Miller - "The Ryan Smyth deal has bogged down with Edm. Issue appears to be Brule's health. Kings are still talking with the Oilers and... Flames." I thought the point of this deal for the Kings was to be a salary dump for the Kings more than anything else. Besides, healthy or not, Brule sucks.

I thought they just took Brule to make it look like they got something.

Brian Campbell to the Sunrise Florida Retirement Home for Rostislav Olesz I think half the reason Dale Talon got fired from Chicago was signing Brian Campbell to 7million for 7 years. Now he takes that albatross (5 years at 7 million) back. He at least should have sucked a first rounder or two from Chicago for that huge favor he did for them. I know he has to reach a salary cap floor but surely the money could have been better spent.
